What are employers?

Employers are the organizations looking to hire candidates. We identify employers through job postings.

What can I use this data for?

Employer data can help you understand who the leading or up-and-coming competitors are in a given market.

Acquire: Where do you get the data for employers?

To identify employer names, we monitor job postings from thousands of sources, including job boards, corporate sites, partner feeds, news sites, staffing websites, and applicant tracking systems. Every day, we process an average of 1.3 million job postings in 22 different languages. Learn more about our demand data.

Organize: How do you prepare this data for analysis?

Job postings are written in any format the employer sees fit. When data is unstructured like this, it must be cleaned and prepared before it can be analyzed. Cleaning and preparation can include translation, stripping punctuation and special characters, and removing extraneous text not related to the job.

Most postings on job boards include a labeled field identifying the employer. We extract this information and use natural language processing (NLP) to normalize the employer name so that, for example, “Apple Store #308” becomes “Apple.”

Analyze: How do you calculate employer data?

After identifying the employer associated with a job posting, we can provide the count of job postings from that employer, as well as more advanced metrics.

Deliver: How do you represent employer data?

We typically represent employer data either as a count or a percentage of job postings that match your search criteria and that are associated with a particular employer.

More about employers:

What if an employer isn’t appearing in search?

TalentNeuron Recruit uses job postings that are currently online. If a particular employer isn’t appearing in search or search results on Recruit, it could be for a couple of reasons:

  • The employer doesn’t have any active postings.

  • We haven’t harvested or processed the employer’s postings yet. We harvest sources regularly, but not every day. Once harvested, processing the new job postings may take a few days.

  • We may not have normalized an employer’s name correctly, or we may have mistakenly combined two employers. While these types of errors are very rare, they are possible.

TalentNeuron Plan uses historical jobs that were posted during the time period you selected. If a particular employer isn’t appearing in search or search results in Plan, it could be that:

  • The employer didn’t post any new jobs during your selected time period.

  • If the time period is recent, we may not have harvested or processed the employer’s postings yet. We harvest sources regularly, but not every day. Once harvested, processing the new job postings may take a few days.

  • We may not have normalized an employer’s name correctly, or we may have mistakenly combined two employers. While these types of errors are very rare, they are possible.
