What are top employers?

In Custom Roles, top employers are the organizations who currently employ or who have in the past hired candidates that meet your criteria.

How can I use this data?

You can use top employer data to understand who the leading competitors are for your target talent in a given market.

Why does Custom Roles have its own AboutTheData documentation?

For certain metrics, our methodologies differ significantly between Custom Roles and our self-service platforms, Plan and Recruit.

Generally, Custom Roles reports provide labor market data on locations that aren’t available in Plan or Recruit, or on roles that are too niche to be represented by job posting data. Because of this, we sometimes rely on different sources and more manual processes to calculate labor market metrics. We therefore don’t recommend comparing data between Custom Roles and Recruit or Plan.

What is the methodology for top employers?

We compile the list of top employers based on multiple sources, including job boards, corporate career pages, publicly-accessible industry reports, academic journals, and professional networking sites such as LinkedIn, Stack Overflow, and Xing.

When researching competitors, we always consider the skillset, educational background, and years of experience for your role.

We represent top employers as a list of organizations who The employers who currently employ or who have historically hired for the talent you’re interested in.
